“We are indeed deeply spiritual, but find it hard to connect with traditional religious settings and texts that may have been used to invalidate our sexuality, our autonomy, and our freedom. And that's where the appeal of a series like Harry Potter comes in...”
- Vice Magazine

The HPATST team came to me in 2016, and explained their plans to build a podcast that would inspire secular people to seek greater meaning in their live via a shared love of Harry Potter. After its launch, I created the promotional image featured on iTunes’ top recommended banner, and the podcast spent several days as the #2 most downloaded podcast on iTunes. It was (and continues to be) written about by multiple prestigious publications, including the Washington Post, Vice Magazine, and the Huffington Post.

As its popularity grew, HPATST began a series of tours for which I provided graphic presentation design, as well as the designs for several fictional wizard products, such as a wizard dating app and a magical clutch to help Hermione carry her amazing load of books:

Creators Vanessa Zoltan and Ariana Nedelman have since created a spinoff:
The Women of Harry Potter and the Sacred Text.

Listen to them both here!

The creators of HPATST have founded their own production company, Not Sorry Productions. They describe their mission as:

“A feminist organization that produces podcasts, educational content, live shows, and immersive experiences with the explicit goal of addressing the spiritual needs of its participants. Through community, rigor, and ritual, we treat traditionally secular things as if they were sacred. In this commitment, we practice empathy, hope, and courage and move closer to treating one another as sacred.”

One of their new podcasts that I also provided art direction for is Hot and Bothered, a podcast that explores what it takes to write an enjoyable romance novel as a feminist in 2022.
